Originally founded in October 1998 for a tribute to Eddie Harris, Funky Brotherhood has by now become one of Europe's most promising funk acts. By translating the sounds of the 70's into the musical language of the 90's, they have created a unique mixture which has attracted Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Marla Glenn as well as Roy Hargrove to come and share the stage with them. The musical roots of Funky Brotherhood are somewhere between Herbie Hancock, James Brown and Stevie Wonder. In 1999 Noel joined their "Eddie Harris and More"-Tour which also contained original Brotherhood-songs.
Noel with Funky Brotherhood in December 1999The sound of Funky Brotherhood features screaming organs, tight grooves and crisp horns. Combined with the versatile soulful voices of Marvin Broadie, Hendrix and Noel their "Eddie Harris and More"-tour contained many explosive, high-energy performances. One result from the work with Funky Brotherhood was the 4-track promotion CD "Get On Up And Dance - In Memory Of Eddie Harris" which has been sold at their gigs. | |
